The American Camp unit of San Juan Island National Historical Park (SJINHP) offers a variety of trail experiences. Enjoy the open prairie below the Visitor Center and the Redoubt or the old logging roads through the woods near Jakle’s Lagoon. From the high point of Mount Finlayson on a clear day, Mt. Rainier can be seen 123 miles away. Or walk the vast expanse of South Beach.

Adjoining land at the east end of the national park is managed by the Washington State DNR as the Cattle Point NRCA (Natural Resources Conservation Area). Other areas are owned by the Land Bank and the San Juan Island National Monument (BLM). Together with the National Park,  it provides a seamless network of trails.
